Google has widened the scope of its AI-based "Flight Deals" feature thus enabling the world users to book flights and plan travel right in the Search. The service which was first launched in August to the three countries, the U.S., Canada, and India is now available in the more than 200 countries and territories, with more than 60 languages supported.
The application uses generative AI to suggest the best travel options at reasonable rates according to user preferences like timing, location, and travel style. Travellers just have to mention their desired place, period, and travel mode, and Google Flights will provide them with a list of the best fares available.
The extension involves not only the U.K, France, Germany, Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia, Japan and South Korea but also other international markets. The company stated that the users’ travel plans would become easier and faster as they would not have to compare prices offered by different platforms manually to find the best one.
Apart from extending the Flight Deals service to more countries, Google is also about to upgrade its Search AI Mode, which is a feature that allows a user to perform complex planning tasks. The “Canvas” workspace that was initially meant for academic research planning and is now totally supporting travel itinerary creation has been opened up for U.S. users who opt for Google Labs. It is a real-time data-locked plan comprising of flights, hotels, restaurants, and attractions besides hotel comparisons, Maps reviews, photos, and activity recommendations timed perfectly for travel.
The users will be able to change the itineraries by making follow-up prompts. For example, they can ask if the specifics of close to dining are more important than that of outdoor activities. Google also made the AI Mode's "agentic" functions available to all U.S. users. The technology in use nowadays makes it possible to do things that were once simply laborious. It now handles bookings of restaurants, events, and wellness appointments, which involves checking the availability of different places on several platforms according to the user-defined parameters such as date, time, location, type of food, and number of people.
The updates that are yet to come will integrate AI Mode, that is to say, travelers will directly book flights and hotels through the use of AI. Such travelers will be able to view the comparison of the different flights, prices, and hotel photos along with amenities and reviews all in one conversational interface. Google’s decision to do so represents the tech giant’s intention to make AI an inseparable part of the travel industry, making applications that used to require many sites and apps more unified and hence, easier to use.
